Picking on the forearm: an interface for a ring scanner

Reworked the picking interface for a forearm-mounted phone and ring scanner, freeing one of the picker’s hands.

Context

A shortage of handheld terminals led the team to explore Yandex Phones paired with ring scanners. With the phone mounted on the forearm, the usual portrait interface was no longer suitable.

My role

I created the concept and rebuilt the Picker interface in landscape orientation around the picker’s physical working context.

What I did

I started from the device position and scanning workflow rather than simply adapting the existing portrait screens.

Status

A landscape interface was designed around the physical working context; the concept is not presented as launched.
